Sandra Perez Gluschankoff "Franzisca's Box" An Interview with Sandra Perez Gluschankoff by Jason E. Foss

                                                                    SANDRA PEREZ GLUSCHANKOFF

"Great Authors have a way of looking beyond thoughts of our own possible limitations and they create stories that inspire us to believe we can do more.  We can be more.  Their books give us an Adventure and a story that makes us feel appreciation for our own Journeys.  When we close their book we feel like we are ready to succeed in so much more of our own aspirations.  We begin to believe we can rise above what once felt like obstacles as they are now our goals to accomplish.  Sandra Perez Gluschankoff is one of those great Authors.  She let us know what motivated her."

                                                                                                              Jason E. Foss

Jason:                     "What motivated you to write "Franzisca's Box?"

Sandra:

"The “write what you know” is a must for me when embarking on a writing project. As the granddaughter of WWII survivors, I have filled this historical novel with the many stories I’ve heard during my childhood. Many others I created to fill in the blanks of tales left untold. For this novel, it was my Romanian grandmother who inspired me to create the character of Claudia Lazar and ultimately write Franzisca’s Box. Although I knew of my grandparents' plight to escape the grasp of the Bolshevik invasion in Romania after the fall of the Nazis, and all the difficulties they faced when, with a new-born baby—my mother—they were denied entrance in Argentina because of being Jews, I didn’t know much about my grandmother and what had turned her into the commanding, tight-lipped, stoic, and the impenetrable mystery she was.  In my mind there was no doubt she harboured secrets, many secrets, and thus Franzisca was created."

Jason:                         "What characteristic of Sofia can you relate to the most and why?"

Sandra:

"We have many things in common with Sofia. She is inquisitive, impulsive, speaks her mind, and is not afraid to learn the truth even if that means her world could crumble down at her feet without a moment’s notice."

"Just like Sofia, I was born and raised in Argentina. For many years after I moved to this country, (20+ years.   ago), like Sofia, I was at a language disadvantage. This handicap heightened the importance of the written word for me. I read more than ever, in English of course. Every new word and every new phrase I learned was somehow left inscribed in my brain ready to be used as I chose. Call it the machinations of the psyche, but using the language of my newly adopted country became the tool I chose to blend all the languages I knew, all the things I did, all the stories I ever heard, and all the stories I suddenly felt the urge to tell. Sofia goes through a similar process."

"She also works in the entertainment industry which I’ve done on and off through the years."

Jason:                         "For your fans and book lovers briefly describe "Franzisca's Box"."

Sandra:

"Mystery, betrayal, murder, and passionate love were things Sofia Lazar only experienced as a movie producer. All of that changed after her grandmother’s sudden death when she comes face to face with an unwanted revelation contained in a tattered box. The meager contents take her back to her childhood and the fantastic bedtime stories that Abuela, her grandmother, used to tell her of a heroic warrior girl named Franzisca. Now, two decades later, fragments of Franzisca’s stories creep back into Sofia’s life, tying Franzisca and her grandmother to an unknown past. With the memories of her childhood bedtime stories to guide her, Sofia sets out to piece together her grandmother’s mysterious history leading her to discover the truth behind her life."

"Set against the backdrop of World War II Romania, the immigration of Nazi criminals into South America, the later years of the Military Regime in Argentina during the 1980s, and present-day California, Franzisca’s Box is a story of war that ultimately affects three generations of women who will never find peace until they call for a ceasefire in their own wars and surrender to forgiveness and love."

Jason:                          "Are you working on another book and if so what can you tell us about it?"

Sandra:

"I have a women’s fiction/ historical fiction manuscript completed, ready to be queried. It’s about a Jewish Polish mafia ring that dealt with white slavery and had its tentacle spreads around the world, mainly in Argentina, Brazil and the US during the 19th and 20th century. Alike all my novels it’s a dual timeline."

"Currently I’m in the midst of writing a time-slip/ historical novel set in present day US/Italy, and 17th century Kingdom of Naples, Italy during the time of the plague. It’s a bittersweet story of broken dreams, a story of love, and self-discovery."

Jason:                              "For those that want to read your book what is the easiest way they can buy "Franzisca's Box"?"

Sandra:

"Franzisca’s Box is available in paperback and e-books all across the board online and can be requested at any bookstore worldwide."

                                                                                 CLOSING

"Sandra Perez Gluschankoff was motivated by her Romanian grandmother to create the character of Claudia Lazar and ultimately write "Franzisca’s Box".   One thing that stands out to me and I definitely appreciate about this great Author is when she said that writing "what she knows" is a must for her when embarking on a writing project.  That is such a great quality to have because her stories will make sense throughout the book.  Her imagination will be creative enough to get you lost in a great story but realistic enough to make perfect sense.  That is the combination for success!  Sandra who was born and raised in Argentina and had a language disadvantage after moving to this country for 20+ years continues to inspire us with her many accomplishments.  Her character Sofia will do the same and leave us inspired to face our goals and dreams 'head on' no matter what!  Click one of the links above and buy "Franzisca's Box"."
