Marlene Hauser "Off-Island" An Interview with Marlene Hauser by Jason E. Foss

                                                                              MARLENE HAUSER

"Great Authors have this ability to have an impact on the reader.  Pages are turned and the main character's journey becomes your own.  Chapters are finished and you question the character's choices.  You finish the book and in the end it all makes sense.  Marlene Hauser is one of those great Authors with the ability to develop a well written story that as the characters grow the readers felt themselves grow right along side them.  Marlene let us know what motivated her."

                                                                                                   Jason E. Foss

Jason:           "What motivated you to write "Off Island"?"

Marlene:

"I wanted to give voice to the experience of those who whispered “ouch” after having had an abortion, but feared saying so aloud would lose them the right to choose."

Jason:           "Krista Bourne sounds like such a brave and inspiring character to walk away from wealth and stability and she shows her independence by dealing with some difficult situations on her own.  What do you like most about Krista and if there is one characteristic of Krista that you feel that you have what would it be?

Marlene:

"I love Krista’s willingness to change course, and even to let go of things that may have kept her from leading a rich and full life, especially with the person she loves. The characteristic I most have in common with Krista is often having to do things my own way, only to find I actually had it wrong."

Jason:            " For your fans and book lovers that would love to read "Off-Island", briefly describe this powerful book."

Marlene:

“Off-Island” is about healing, the right to choose and love. It is about a young woman who was sure she had it right, only to discover things weren’t quite what they seemed, and when she saw her own fate about to replicate that of her grandmother’s fate, she made other choices—probably choices her beloved grandmother would have approved."

Jason:             "Do you have another book in the works and If so what can you tell us about it?"

Marlene:

"While promoting “Off-Island,” I am in the process of submitting my next novel “Juicy Fruit” to agents and at the same time exploring self-publishing. This book is about a young woman’s survival, primarily emotional survival in a tumultuous childhood. I am also writing a fourth draft of “The Poetry of Life” and enjoying every minute of it! This book is about the joyful road to motherhood, wherever it may take you."

5)     For those that want to read your book what is the easiest way to buy 'Off-Island”?

The easiest way to find “Off-Island” is most probably online—Amazon, Kobo, Troubador. These can all be accessed via marlenehauser.com

                                                                                  CLOSING

"Marlene was motivated to write this powerful book because she wanted to be the 'voice' that many women are fearful of speaking too loudly about.  The right to choose is so important and this book touches on that topic.  Her character shows the reader that no matter how long you have been living your life a certain way you can always change your mind.  You can always make changes in your life.  Go to marlenehauser.com and buy "Off-Island"."

Erin McAndrew "Stay Alive" - EP An Interview with Erin McAndrew by Jason E. Foss

                                                                                   ERIN MCANDREW

"There are some moments in one's life that they just can't catch a break.  Everything seems to be going wrong.  They look in the mirror and start wondering, "Is it me?"  And then it happens.  Music.  Not just any music but a specific song that is playing that touches that person.  The song was so inspiring and touched that person in such a way that it completely changed their mood for good.  And that is the power of Music.  Erin McAndrew is a Country Rock Singer and Songwriter that can literally put you in a better mood with her music.  Erin let us know what motivates her."

                                                                                                             Jason E. Foss

Jason:                   "You have a great look and a beautiful voice.  What motivated you to start your music career?"

Erin:

"I've always loved music from a VERY young age. I was always performing and singing whether it was in my parent's living room, dancing, choir, musical theatre, in a band, etc. I love it all. What really started it was in high school when I began writing songs. I played in a few bands throughout my college years and eventually went solo and that's when my career really started to take off."

Jason:                    "Big City & Bright Lights" and "Whiskey & The Rebel" sound so amazing. Out of all your songs which one is your favorite song you ever wrote and why?"

Erin:

"Well thank you so much for your kind words! :) Every song is my favorite in its own way. I really enjoy the story behind "Whiskey & the Rebel" though. My husband and I were traveling to visit family in Nashville during a snow storm and flights kept getting cancelled and it was just quite the trip to make a long story short. My husband and I talked about how I should write a song about my experience if I was a single woman playing gigs in Nashville that evening. What came about is I think a really fun country song!"

Jason:                   "What was your favorite moment in your music career so far?"

Erin:

"I definitely have more than one, but I would say the fact that I am impacting people from my music and the support I'm receiving means so much. There's also a BEAUTIFUL winery that I played at this summer that was like nowhere I've ever played before and it was a very defining moment that made me realize that my calling is music and I'm going in a very good direction."

Jason:                    "What advice would you give someone chasing a Dream of there's that worked for you?"

Erin:

"I know so many people say "Don't Give Up" and I believe that too, but you also need to SET goals and create a plan if you want to chase that dream. And work towards those goals each and every day! Otherwise it is just a dream and wish. I offer goal setting webinars and goal coaching. Anyone who is interested in realizing their true potential I would LOVE to help. You can find more info on my website:"

Jason:                     "For your fans that would love to support your music and your Patreon, what is the easiest way they can support your music?"

Erin:

"They can head on over to my Patreon channel at http://www.patreon.com/erinmcandrew and support for as little as $1 a month! There I do live broadcasts each week, and my patrons get to hear new music and many other things before anyone else! Jude Haste "I Am Not A Victim! I'm A Warrior Who Fights On!" An Interview with Jude Haste by Jason E. Foss

                                                                                        JUDE HASTE

"Great Authors can make you visualize characters without any help from the Big Screen.  The Author's words introduce each character one by one and as you read along you can almost picture them perfectly.  The story gets told so well that you almost forget that there was someone behind it.  One person that put the story before themselves.  Jude Haste is one of these Great Authors and she lets us know where she gets her motivation from."

                                                                                                          Jason E. Foss

Jason:        "What motivated you to write "Loaded: Comic Mayhem On Board A London Bus?"

Jude

"I was motivated to write due to work stress.  It was a creative release very theraputic.  I was also inspired to write LOADED because it was set in London my birth place and I had been out of the UK for several years.

Jason:         "Briefly describe what "Loaded: Comic Mayhem On Board A London Bus is about."

Jude:

" LOADED is a simple tale of a worker's journey home but the comedy comes in the form of the obstacles she comes across.  We learn about the main character from how she responds to the challenges that cross her path.  When writing comedy the main character gets given a really hard time; even I felt sorry for her."

Jason:          "Do you have a favorite character in your book?  Which character in your book "Loaded" can you relate to most?"

Jude:

"I liked them all misfits in society that reflected how I felt at the time, in a culture that left me feeling isolated.

Jason:           "Is there another book that you're working on and if so what can you tell us about it?

Jude:

"I have written 8 novellas on amazon.  Some deal with work place bullying as I experienced it.

"My daughter has recently entered the work-force and was shocked about the bullying she observed.  She said when you start work you expect everyone to be professional and felt totally unequipped.  She said she hopes schools that already deal with bullying issues will also cover this one."

Jason:           "For those book lovers that want to buy your book where is the easiest place they can buy "Loaded: Comic Mayhem On Board A London Bus?"

Jude:

"I am an indie author who publishes on amazon.  "LOADED" is free on kindle unlimited."

"I hope my novellas bring a smile to people's faces on what can at times feel like a dark and hopeless  night.  I would like to end this Interview with my motto,

'Treat others the way you want to be treated'."

                                                                                 CLOSING

"Jude was motivated to write due to work stress.  She writes about characters that are misfits in society.  Her book makes you laugh and she puts the story before herself making sure the reader is satisfied.  However she has a message imprinted in her books.  Her message is this.  'I am not a victim!  I'm a Warrior who fights on!'  She writes about workplace bullying.  She is a great Author that doesn't mind being the voice for those that are not ready to speak up.  In her new book she brilliantly makes the readers smile and laugh and enjoy the characters that are in this well written story.  So go to Amazon.com, search 'Jude Haste Loaded', and buy "Loaded: Comic Mayhem On Board A London Bus"

Lauren Lynne "The Recalcitrant Project" An Interview with Lauren Lynne by Jason E. Foss

                                                                                    LAUREN LYNNE

"Though there are many elements that make a great Author there is a word that is definitely up there on the list.  Passion.  When you have passion for something there is not much that is going to stand in your way.  Ideas will form in your mind on how to make whatever you have a passion for to become a reality.  Lauren Lynne is a great Author that writes with passion.  So much passion that for this one book she couldn't get rest unless she started it.  Lauren lets us know what motivated her."

                                                                                                            Jason E. Foss

Jason:                "What motivated you to write “The Recalcitrant Project"?"

Lauren:

"A nightmare began “The Recalcitrant Project.” I’m from Oregon and we were changing state testing in our school system. My son and my students were all worried about the new test since rumors were going around that everyone would fail since the new test was so different from the old one. In Elise Andrek’s world, your entire future is based on how you perform on the testing you do in school. This was the first book I ever got up in the middle of the night to begin."

Jason:                 "Briefly describe the character Elise Andrek and what characteristic of hers can you most" relate to?"

Lauren:

"I think of Elise as being socially delayed and definitely an introvert. To balance that, she is incredibly smart. In the beginning, she has trouble relating to other students and very much prefers her world of zeros and ones otherwise known as binary or code. Elise has one friend and she gets taken away from her. Now with no one to talk to, Elise spirals into self-doubt and self-blame. I have very little in common with Elise. I am an introvert for sure, but that’s about all we have in common. The Elise character was originally based on the strength and sassiness of a good friend of my family’s."

Jason:                  "For those that want to read your book briefly describe "The Recalcitrant Project"."

Lauren:

"Elise Andrek is about to go through her final trials before graduation. She is one of the students that have been asked to do some programming on a game for the government which mimics real-life scenarios depicting the eradication of an unwanted element of the population the government deems unworthy, the underworlders. Working for the government is not unusual and helps to prove a student’s worth to the government, but she has become suspicious that she is being used instead. Her worst fears are confirmed when she realizes she is responsible for the success of the government's mass murder of most of her graduating class. In the midst of the tragedy, Elise uncovers a nationwide conspiracy that reveals her class is just the beginning. As a fugitive on the run, she is caught between an unforgiving regime and a rising faction of resistance known as the Recalcitrants. Things become even more complicated when Bren, the only boy she has ever been interested in, tries to rescue her, and she's not sure he can be trusted."

Jason:                 "Is there another book that you're working on and if so what can you tell us about it?"

Lauren:

"I’m always working on another book of some kind. I am in the process of proofing the art for my first children’s book due out next year. I am working on early edits for a new novel in The Secret Watchers universe. I have five titles belonging to The Secret Watchers series which is young adult action, adventure, and suspense. The new book is a companion book and not part of the series. I also have a fantasy book and two middle grade books that are barely started. Perhaps most interesting to this audience, I am continuing Elise’s adventures in “Recalcitrant Uprising.”

Jason:                "For your fans and book lovers that want to read your book where can they go to buy "The Recalcitrant Project"?"

Lauren:              "Paperbacks and eBooks are available from the following retailers."

Amazon:  HYPERLINK "http://smarturl.it/Recalcitrant" http://smarturl.it/Recalcitrant

iBooks:  HYPERLINK "http://smarturl.it/RecalcitrantiBooks" http://smarturl.it/RecalcitrantiBooks

"Lauren was motivated by the school system changing state testing.  She was worried that the change would be so significant that it would cause her son and her students to fail.  That sparked an idea that wouldn't allow her to sleep another minute.  We don't choose when a great idea comes our way all we can do is decide to answer it or let it pass.  Lauren not only answered it but her idea developed into a chapter and her passion wouldn't leave her until her book was complete.  Go to the link above and buy "The Recalcitrant Project."

C.A. Asbrey "The Innocents" An Interview with C.A. Asbrey by Jason E. Foss

                                                                                          C.A. ASBREY

"There is greatness that occurs in all of us.  It starts with how much time you put into your craft.  Or your goal.  Or in your life in general.  The more you put in the more you get out.  Great Authors plenty of times do just that.  C.A. Asbrey has put so much time and effort and passion into her writing that her book  makes you feel like you are in a different era.  Detail after detail as each page is turned she enhances your imagination.  She lets us know where she got her motivation from."

                                                                                                     Jason E. Foss

Jason:             "What motivated you to write  "The Innocents"?"

Christine:

"I joined the police in Scotland a long time ago. Our training sergeant was an engaging lady of great experience, full of tales, anecdotes, and quite an expert on the earliest women in our force. I loved her and was quickly fascinated by all her tales. It got me wondering more about the earliest women in law enforcement. I soon found myself reading more and more about these unsung pioneers. The USA and the UK both employed police women since the early twentieth century, but I wanted to go as far back as I could. I eventually found out that the Pinkerton Detective Agency in the USA was the first to employ women as fully-fledged professionals from 1856. The French did employ women in the Sûreté earlier than this, but they were mostly prostitutes used as honey traps, so I discounted those as professional detectives.
I was slightly shocked that I had never heard of these women, or the work they did, so I read everything I could about them. The first was Kate Warne, rumoured to be a former actress and a widow. Like the rest of the women in her department she was an expert at assuming roles and working undercover. The women were held in the highest esteem by Alan Pinkerton due to their excellent results. They were very successful, and even acted as an armed guard for Abraham Lincoln. The seeds for my heroine, Abigail MacKay, were sown."

"Questions and research threw up more and more things to investigate. In the only known picture of Kate Warne she is dressed as a man. Could all that long Victorian hair be concealed under a short wig? The internet answered that one. Cosplay and LARP gave me real-life examples of women with hair down to their bottoms who managed to get it under a short wig. One woman even explains how to pleat her long, thick hair and coil it flat under the cap before putting the short wig on. It absolutely IS possible.
But what about makeup? What disguises were available? The forensics are fascinating to dig into too. As well as having some training in the field, I’ve read multiple books on crime from the period as well as actual court transcripts, paying great attention to the methodologies used by the doctors determined to bring murders to book. Some of the details are compellingly gruesome, and it’s a good job I’m not in the least squeamish. I’m also lucky in that I can speak to people who work in the field and know their stuff too.
You name it, I researched, right down to what shades of clothes were available at that time, what stationary they used. How did they copy documents, what technology was invented and in use? What spy techniques did they use, how were these women trained?"

"Any woman doing such work in the 19th century would have been as determined and individual as any of the strong women I met in law enforcement in the 20th century. Possibly even more so, so I was determined to write Abigail as a forceful and intelligent, while keeping her as a woman of her time. Despite working as part of a team, no female police officer is ever a sidekick, or a lesser version, of her male counterpart, contrary to the picture painted in many books and movies. Nor is my detective. She is a fully-trained, skilled investigator and is nobody’s assistant, which is fully borne out in all the writings still available on the female Pinkertons. Just like the real female Pinkertons she goes in to work undercover on her own."

"I gave her a formidable opponent in a charismatic criminal who is every bit as clever as she is, and they both find their skill set dovetails perfectly to investigate a murder they both have a vested interest in solving. They are fascinated by one another, but any truce can only ever be fleeting. It’s not long before they are on opposite sides once again as ‘best enemies.’
Over the years the idea percolated, the notion of writing the books got put behind a life, family, career, and everything else that everyone lives through. During all that time I continued to research the period, place, social mores, and people until I was thoroughly marinated in the 19th century. A serious accident suddenly forced me to stop and take stock of my life. I changed my career, and I started writing during my lengthy convalescence. The first draft was terrible, but did seem to have a spark of something worth working on.
It took years before I finally finished The Innocents, and all my research fell into place. My next problem was to find a publisher. I was repeatedly told that “Westerns weren’t selling”. Except, it’s not a Western. It’s set everywhere the Pinkertons worked, and by the fourth book they’ve been coast to coast and even to Europe. It’s 19th century Americana and covers the whole of the USA. Abigail does the kind of work the Female agents did, and goes undercover to get information on crime and criminals on her own. One case is set in the West, and it had to be Wyoming as the territory, and later, the state, has no statute of limitations. That is pertinent to the overall arc of the stories."

Jason:            "Briefly Describe Abigail MacKay, and what characteristic of hers can you most relate to?"

Christine:

"Abigail MacKay is an immigrant to the USA from Scotland. She is a determined individualist, stubborn and has a deep sense of justice. Her talents tend towards the scientific, and she is deeply logical. She is unusual for her time in that she doesn’t ‘dumb-down’ her intelligence to please men or to try to fit in. She is a young widow who meddled in the investigation into her father’s murder, until Alan Pinkerton decided it would be easier to control her if he employed her. The women’s department of The Pinkerton Agency really existed and started in 1856.
I can relate to her independent streak and her drive for justice for the less fortunate members of society. I always say that she’s cleverer than I am. She knows stuff I have to look up."

Jason:           "For those that want to read your book briefly describe "The Innocents"."

Christine:

"In Wyoming, 1868, Pinkerton detective Abigail MacKay goes undercover to catch the infamous Nat Quinn. When Nat saves her life, and a new mystery unravels, the two must work together to stop a vicious murderer who targets women. She owes him, and nobody else is interested in the murder of two prostitutes who were his friends. His burglary skills and criminal contacts dovetail together with her forensic and detection expertise to solve a complex case involving secret identities, inheritance, illegitimacy, and brutal murder. Working together is risky for both of them. He could face 20 years, and she could be sacked and imprisoned if they are caught working together—and a murderer could continue to kill."

Jason:          "Are you working on another book and if so what can you share with us about it?"

Christine:

"Three books have been published in the Innocents Mystery Series. Each can be read as a standalone murder mystery. The series is linked by the will-they-won’t-they relationship between Nat and Abigail, as well as the murderous vendetta waged by Nat’s arch enemy. I’ve written book 4 and it’s resting before I go back and edit. I am about a third of the way through book 5. I plan to end the series at book 6. After that I’ve planned a murder mystery set in a gothic 19th century Edinburgh. The murder I actually solved in the present day as the consequences ring down the years."

Jeanine Lunsford "Remembering First Love" An Interview with Jeanine Lunsford by Jason E. Foss

                                                                              JEANINE LUNSFORD

"A Great Author can touch you without lifting a finger.  They put words together that last beyond the physical.  One chapter can break down that wall the reader was forced to put up years ago because they felt no one can relate.  Another chapter can make another person feel a sense of hope because finally someone understands. By the end of the book the reader finally feels they are not alone.  Jeanine Lunsford is one of these powerful Authors and she lets us know where she gets her motivation."

                                                                                                    Jason E. Foss

Jason:             "What motivated you to write "Remembering First Love"?"

Jeanine:

"When I wrote "Remembering First Love" I wrote it to invite my readers to enter Carina Rivera’s world, to get an up close and personal picture of the kind of confusion a victim of domestic violence suffers. I wrote it to help those who have never experienced the trauma of domestic violence to understand what it is like to be caught up in the cycle of domestic abuse, and I wrote it for those who have experienced domestic abuse to offer them hope. The message of God’s unconditional love is woven throughout the story of Carina’s downward spiral and her mistaken belief that God has given up on her."

Jason:          "Describe the character Carina Rivera and if you can relate to Carina, what characteristic can you relate to most?"

Jeanine:

"Carina Rivera is a 20-year-old fatherless daughter raised by her mother and grandmother in the tight-knit Cuban community of Hialeah, Florida. Carina and her sister Amelia (only 10 months her senior) have never met their father and their mother never speaks of him. Carina has always believed that her father left after her birth because he didn’t love her."

"As a little girl she was showered with attention by a neighbor man and became a victim of molestation. Because of this traumatic childhood experience, Carina has a deeply troubled adolescence. She enters adulthood emotionally confused, especially about men."

"I can relate to Carina not only because I am a fatherless daughter but also because I suffered through an abusive relationship in my late teens and again in my early twenties. As a survivor of domestic violence, I know Carina's character. I know how she feels, how she thinks ... how she hides her pain."

Jason:            "For your fans and those that want to read your book, describe "Remembering First Love"?"

Jeanine:

"Strong willed Carina Rivera is tired of struggling with painful memories.
Abandoned by her father as a baby and molested as a child by a neighbor man, she's been dealing with pain for as long as she can remember."

"Determined to leave the darkness of her troubled past and the bad reputation her own mistakes have earned her, Carina sets out to turn a new leaf, trying to become more like her godly sister, Amelia. But when she's suddenly thrust into the position of her family's sole breadwinner, Carina comes face to face with the kind of temptation she's not sure she has the strength to resist—her handsome supervisor, Aaron Mendoza."

"Dark. Forbidden. Carina knows she needs to stay away ... everything about Aaron is off limits.
But Aaron is calling to hidden desires within Carina, luring her down a dangerous path that leads to his web of seduction."

"Will Carina allow the shadows of her past to creep into her present and darken her future?
Can she escape from the trap set for her by the evil dwelling within Aaron?"

Jason:             "Do you have another book in the works and if so what can you tell us about it?"

Jeanine:

"I am working on “No Greater Love”, The companion novel to “Remembering First Love”. This book will focus on Carina’s sister Amelia and her military husband, Richard. Carina will play a large role in the book as well. I am planning several stand-alone companion novels featuring many of the same characters to follow."

Jason:           "Where can book lovers go to buy "Remembering First Love"?"

"So Jeanine Lunsford was motivated to write this powerful book to open the eyes and hearts of readers that are unaware of domestic abuse.  She was also motivated to give hope to readers that have personally been affected by it.  With such a strong topic Jeanine never forgets the reader and adds just the right amount of emotional elements making this book a 'page turner'.  If you are looking for a book that locks you in on the very first page go to Amazon.com and buy "Remembering First Love"
