"Some Days, Here" by Tricia DeJesus Gutierrez. An Interview with Tricia De Jesus Gutierrez by Jason E. Foss.

                                                                          TRICIA DE JESUS GUTIERREZ

"Great Poets have a way of connecting to people.  Their words create different emotions that the Reader will always remember. They can tie it to themselves with their own life experiences.  And when they are done reading some of their works they say to themselves, "Me Too.  I feel like I can relate to this Poet".  Tricia De Jesus Gutierrez is one of these Great Poets.  She is so full of Color.  She's so full of Life.  Her positive energy is beyond her Poems.  Poetry is something that can make you Feel again even when you thought you never would.  She let us know what motivates her."

                                                                                                    Jason E. Foss

Jason:                             "What motivated you to write "Some Days, Here?""

Tricia:

"“Some Days, Here” was in a certain way a culmination point of almost fifteen years of actively writing poetry as a way of recording my life’s events, my experiences, what I had learned from these experiences. When I had the opportunity to read back and begin to catalogue these poems, common themes begin to emerge, like childhood memories and growing pains, and love and loss. It was like a lightbulb popping and an almost audible “yes!” within my head. The time to collect and publish this body of work had arrived. An epiphany? Maybe, but more akin to a truth that these experiences I wrote, they are universal, shared by us all, timeless. It brings us closer in this increasingly impersonal world."

Jason:                            "You are very good at what you do and there are a lot of qualities one must have to be successful.  What do you feel is the best characteristic to have in order to be successful?"

Tricia:

"Success is constant, fearless and honest doing. As long as you always possess and hold yourself accountable to that honesty, you are successful."

Jason:                             "You are a very talented Poet.  What is the name of your Favorite poem you ever wrote and why does it mean so much to you?"

Tricia:

"Oh, wow, I’m going to have to delve hard for that one!  We, as creatives, can be the biggest critics of our own work, so the crafting and editing may be never ending, and we are hard pressed to pick a favourite. I can tell you which poem perhaps that I feel the deepest; it is a poem titled “Teach me How to Come Up for Air (imperfect thoughts in the throes of grieving)”—I wrote it about a month after the passing of my beloved dog, Marbles. It was...a lesson, an ongoing lesson in the messiness of the mourning process, on life in general, how we process our grief, how we move on, how we perceive and extract strength and meaning from the situations with which we are presented."

Jason:                               "Are you working on another book and if so what can you tell us about it?"

Tricia:

"I am tinkering around with another collection of poems. It is siphoning my life now through a more mature lens, how it relates to what women are facing today, how recent occurrence, personal and more global, colour this perception and what I take away from it."

Jason:                            "You are very motivating.  For those that would love to read your book what is the best way for them to buy "Some Days, Here"?"

Tricia:

"Thank you so much, Jason! My book is available in Kindle format and paperback through Amazon."

                                                                                     CLOSING

Tricia De Jesus Gutierrez was motivated by that moment when she realized that she has enough Poetry to publish and share it with the world.  My favorite thing about Tricia is her openness to others.  She has a giving nature about herself that reflects in her Poetry.  Her creativity reflects that and because she is so relatable in her poems she is able to touch us with her words.  We can all learn from eachother.  And it was nice getting advice from her to stay honest and hold yourself accountable you will be successful.  She describes Success as being constant.  Also it is important to be Fearless.  To find what you want to succeed at it and keep going for it until you achieve your dream.  Because once you stop the momentum slows down.  So be Fearless in your actions when it comes to getting to where you want to be in Life.  And one day, if you haven't gotten there already, you will look around and say to yourself, "Wow, I made it."  Click on the Link above and buy "Some Days, Here"."
