Marnye Young "Audio Sorceress" An Interview with Marnye Young by Jason E. Foss

                                                               MARNYE YOUNG "AUDIO SORCERESS"

"My whole life I remember leaving a Great Movie and a friend would say, "Did you read the book?"  Now thinking back it is true.  Most great movies originated from a book written by a Great Author. Some people like to read books others like hearing the story get told to them.  There are times when you don't want to look at a movie screen for two hours and you don't even want to read.  Marnye Young is that Bridge.  The in between of watching a great movie and reading a great book.  Marnye Young also known as the "Audio Sorceress" is one of the best Narrators for Audio books that allow one to close their eyes and just experience a great story being told to them taking them away to a new type of relaxation.  She was happy to share with us what motivated her to be a Narrator of so many Great Books."

                                                                                                                   Jason E. Foss

Jason:                "What motivated you to become a narrator of so many books?"

"My motivation for narrating stemmed from having my acting career take a backseat so I could focus on raising my identical twins. I needed to find a way to work from home so I could take care of them, make some money and still do what I love or something like it. An incredible narrator, Patricia Santomasso told me I had a good voice and should try audiobooks a few years ago and I did exactly that. I started at the end of 2016 and was able to hook up with this awesome production company called Silverton Audio and now they have their own agency an alternative to ACX called Silverton Agency. Anyway that relationship really changed the path of my audiobook career as I was bringing clients to them and they were bringing clients to me and things went so well that I just formed my own company Audio Sorceress LLC over 4 months ago now."

Jason:                  "You are highly respected and also well known as the "Audio Sorceress".  Is there a story behind the name "Audio Sorceress"?"

"Highly respected really? Who says? Just kidding. Well thank you for that and oh boy is there a story. So there is a ridiculously awesome author named Sean McMahon. Maybe you have heard of him. I am kidding. Of course you have. You just interviewed him this lovely human being. He has been called The Wizard of Time Travel. I believe that phrase was coined by another exceptional author and delightful person Katie Hagaman. Anyway he was kind enough to mail his book to me from the UK and when it arrived the package said Marnye Young Audio Sorceress and I swear to you a light bulb went off and I thought that’s the name of my company and that is my hook. When you are in this business with tens of thousands of other narrators many of them women you are actively seeking to distinguish yourself from others (at least I am) and that answer was written on that envelope. I immediately asked him if I could use Audio Sorceress to name my company and he said yes. I did a happy dance and told him I would give him credit and he said it wasn’t necessary. Well I am giving him credit now and actually have in other interviews because he is the bomb diggedy!! And I just adore him and he is quite possibly one of the funniest and quickest individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting (virtually of course) and befriending."

Jason:                        "You have such a beautiful voice and so many talents.  Which one of your many accomplishments mean the most to you and why?"

"Well first of all thank you so much. I remember growing up and loving to sing and thinking whenever I heard myself recorded I sounded so nasal I would just cringe. But thankfully I have grown out of that and realized I have a voice that people want to listen to. But really my best accomplishment is my children. I know its cheesy but it’s true. I could not be more proud of who they are as they grow up into little girls. Sniff sniff. They are highly intelligent, sweet, funny, creative, caring and crazy and I like to think I have something to do with all of those things."

Jason:                        "Is there something new that you are working on and what can you tell us about it?"

"Oh yes I am grateful to have so many projects in the hopper. There is one I am working on right now that I can share with you. It is being published by Silverton Agency and distributed by Blackstone so it will be available on cd and in libraries Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors and I am extremely excited for people to hear my take on it. The book has been a love of mine for a long long long time and I cannot wait to share it with everyone else. I find the characters so wonderfully frustrating like they just need a good cuff and I love that. Oh and I should mention that the playful cover with a modern twist is done by CoversbyCombs. They rock!"

Jason:                        "For your many fans that love what you do, whether it's youtube or your own website, can you tell us how we can stay in tune with your brilliant career?"

"Sure. I am everywhere. No lie. I am on every social media platform there is including FB, Twitter, Insta, LinkedIn, GooglePlus and Youtube but the best place to see what I am up to is my website and you can get in touch with me that way as well.
I just want to say thanks Jason for this awesome opportunity. It has been a real pleasure."

"Marnye Young's love for her identical twins motivated her to start a career as a narrator so she can work from home.  She and the other Great narrators give book lovers another form of relaxation.  So the next time you want to read a book but you are too tired, understand that you can have the best of both worlds.  Go to the link right above and experience the "Audio Sorceress" bring some of your favorite books to life."
