POULOMI SANYAL
"Great Authors have something in them that stands out. They can see a million Authors successfully write one way and say to themselves 'I'm going to do it another way.' That bravery expands the imagination and gives the Reader a brand new experience. Poulomi Sanyal is one of those great Authors that writes with her own map. She let us know what motivated her."

Jason: "What motivated you to write "Colour Me Confounded: A Tale Of Two Tales"?"
Poulomi:
"The idea for Colour Me Confounded came to me from reading books and watching movies about women that fall into either of two categories":
1). Superheroes/celebrities/heiresses/world-leaders
Or
2). Abused/victimized/marginalized/discriminated against
"I wanted to write about women that fall into neither of the above categories and instead about normal, modern day women that you and I could relate to. To me, feminism is not about showing how powerful women can be or on the other end of the spectrum, how left behind they have been over the ages (and continue to be as of today). To me, true feminism is about viewing the world through a woman's eyes—a regular, modern-day woman. It is about depicting her as a human being whose world does not revolve around finding love or raising a family, but like a man's, her life too has all the other critical facets such as career and same sex, platonic friendships, ones that often rock her world. Of course, discrimination and marginalization are very real and these concepts are present as subliminal elements in the book but the clear emphasis is on portraying modern-day women as independent, career-driven individuals who do not conform to any of the gender-based clichés."
Jason: "What genre(s) do you write?"
Poulomi:
"You can say that I am quite ‘genrefluid’. My first book was a contemporary women’s fiction/romance, but I am currently working on a couple of hard science-fiction series, one of them due soon. I also have a romance title and a poetry collection planned for release in 2019-2020, if all goes well. I often feel that deep down, I am more of a poet than a novelist and in most of my fiction I tend to feature some of my original poetry as well."
Jason: "For your fans and book lovers briefly describe "Colour Me Confounded"."
Poulomi:
"Colour Me Confounded is a collection of two tales (as the subtitle suggests) but as an author, J.G. MacLeod very eloquently mentioned in her 5-star review of the book on https://t.co/Dnyp87J8LK, “the narratives are thematically connected on a deeper level.” Both stories are about the journeys of professional, immigrant women who struggle to find a balance between their professional and personal lives and juggle the complexities of modern-day friendships and romance."
Jason: "Are you working on another book and if so what can you tell us about it?"
Poulomi:
"Yes, absolutely! Several, actually. But the one that is now complete and due for release this spring is called, ‘The Coming of Kalki’. It’s the first book in the Interference series—a series of hard science-fiction, steeped in real science and ancient myth."
"This novel is based on my original, unpublished, research concept arising out of my Ph.D. level research conducted under the Department of Biomedical Engineering at McGill University in Montreal in collaboration with the Montreal Neurological Institute. What I love about this work is that, it combines elements from genuine archaeological findings, ancient myths as well modern neurological research to tell a fantastical story about a transitional age. Here we find humanity on the verge of witnessing a progression from an age of darkness to one of heightened enlightenment. With this series my goal is to propound a gradual movement from a patriarchal, power-driven society to a matriarchal, wisdom-based one."
Jason: "For those that want to read your book what is the easiest way they can buy "Colour Me Confounded"?"
Poulomi:

CLOSING
"Poulomi Sanyal is motivated by writing in a way of portraying modern-day women as independent, career-driven individuals who do not conform to any of the gender-based clichés. What I really like about Poulomi Sanyal is how she always read books and watched movies that has women fall into either of two categories. Great Authors like Poulomi have the ability to say 'I'm going to create a category 3!' This book has and will continue to empower and motivate women. Yet Poulomi Sanyal made sure that both stories were unique and interesting so each Reader finishes the book satisfied. Click on one of the above links and buy "Colour Me Confounded".
